Getting Started

Welcome to NatterNinja!

NatterNinja is an AI assistant platform that helps you create a conversational AI for your website. Here's how to get started:

1. Create Your Account

Sign up using your email or Google account. After signing in for the first time, you'll be asked to provide your name, company name, and website URL.

2. Use the Setup Assistant

The Setup Assistant will guide you through the initial configuration process, including setting up your knowledge base, personality, and appearance.

3. Deploy to Your Website

Once configured, use the Deployment Guide to add the AI assistant to your website by copying and pasting a simple code snippet.

Dashboard Overview

Your NatterNinja dashboard is organized into several sections:

View conversation metrics and insights about how users interact with your AI assistant.

Setup & Configuration

Configure your AI assistant with guided setup or manage your websites.

Setup Assistant

The Setup Assistant provides a step-by-step guide to configure your AI assistant:

Step 1: Business

Select or create a business profile for your AI assistant.

Step 2: Knowledge

Add information to your knowledge base or generate it automatically from your website.

Step 3: Personality

Configure how your AI assistant communicates, including tone, style, and business policies.

Step 4: Appearance

Customize the look and feel of your chat widget to match your brand.

Step 5: Test

Preview and test your AI assistant before deploying it to your website.

Tip: The Setup Assistant is the fastest way to get your AI assistant up and running with professional configurations.

Managing Websites

You can manage multiple websites from your NatterNinja dashboard:

Adding a New Website
  1. Click on "Websites" in the Setup & Configuration section
  2. Click "Add New Website"
  3. Enter a unique Business ID (cannot be changed later)
  4. Enter your Business Name
  5. Enter your Website URL (including https://)
  6. Click "Save Business"
Editing Website Details

You can edit your business name and URL at any time, but the Business ID cannot be changed once created.

Switching Between Websites

Use the Business selector at the top of the dashboard to switch between different websites you've added.

Important: Each website has its own configuration, knowledge base, and analytics.

Knowledge Base

The knowledge base is what your AI assistant uses to answer questions about your business:

Managing Your Knowledge Base
  1. Navigate to "Knowledge Base" in the Content & Knowledge section
  2. Select your business from the dropdown
  3. Click "Add Document" to add new information
  4. Enter a title, category, and content for each document
Auto-Generating Knowledge

NatterNinja can automatically generate a knowledge base from your website:

  1. Click on "Auto-Generate" in the Content & Knowledge section
  2. Select your business
  3. Confirm that you want to proceed (this will overwrite existing content)
  4. Wait for the system to scan your website and generate content
Tip: Organize your knowledge by categories for better response accuracy. Regularly update your content to keep information current.

Widget Configuration

Customize how your chat widget looks and behaves on your website:

Appearance Settings
  • Main Color: Choose your brand's primary color for the chat bubble, header, and buttons
  • Widget Size: Select from small, medium, or large sizes
  • Widget Position: Place the widget in the bottom right or bottom left of your website
  • Font: Choose a font that matches your website's style
  • Logo: Upload your company logo to display in the chat header
Behavior Settings
  • Chat Bubble Style: Choose between a traditional chat icon or a text-based "ASK" button
  • Load Delay: Set how many seconds to wait before showing the chat widget
  • Dark Mode: Enable a dark color scheme for the chat interface
  • Enable Widget: Master switch to turn the widget on or off
Messages Settings
  • Assistant Name: Give your AI assistant a name that reflects your brand
  • Welcome Message: Set the first message users see when opening the chat
  • Exit Intent Detection: Configure the widget to open when users are about to leave your site
  • Exit Intent Message: Customize the message shown when exit intent is triggered
Animations Settings
  • Pulse Animation: Enable a subtle, attention-grabbing pulse effect on your chat bubble
  • Initial Pulse Delay: Set how many seconds to wait before the first pulse animation
  • Pulse Interval: Set how many seconds between pulse animations
  • Auto-Open Widget: Automatically open the chat widget after a specified delay
  • Attention Prompt: Show a speech bubble pointing to the chat widget to draw attention
Tip: Use animations and attention prompts sparingly to avoid annoying your website visitors. A subtle approach often works best.

Personality Configuration

Configure how your AI assistant communicates with users:

Prompt Builder

The Prompt Builder allows you to create custom instructions for your AI assistant:

  1. Navigate to "Personality" in the Personality & Appearance section
  2. Select your business from the dropdown
  3. Click "Add Custom Prompt" to create a new component
  4. Enter a Component ID, Display Title, and Content
  5. Check "Dynamic Component" if the content should be updated in real-time
Business Policies

It's important to configure how your AI assistant handles sensitive business information:

  • Pricing Policy: How your AI should respond to questions about pricing
  • Lead Time Policy: How your AI should handle questions about delivery timeframes
Important: Without clear instructions, your AI Assistant might share information you would not like shared. Always set up business policies.

Analytics & Monitoring

Track how users interact with your AI assistant:

Quick Stats

The dashboard provides key metrics at a glance:

  • Total Conversations: The number of chat sessions with your AI assistant
  • Active Users Today: The number of unique users who have engaged with your assistant today
  • Avg. Response Time: How quickly your AI assistant responds to user queries
  • Knowledge Base Items: The number of documents in your knowledge base
Chat History

View detailed records of past conversations:

  1. Click on "Chat History" in the Analytics & Monitoring section
  2. Select your business from the dropdown
  3. Browse the list of conversations, sorted by date
  4. Click "View" to see the full conversation details
Recent Activity

The dashboard shows recent interactions with your AI assistant, helping you monitor usage in real-time.

Tip: Regularly review chat history to identify common questions and improve your knowledge base accordingly.

Deployment Guide

Add your AI assistant to your website:

Generating Deployment Code
  1. Click on "Deployment Guide" in the Setup & Configuration section
  2. Select your business from the dropdown
  3. Click "Generate Deployment Code"
Installation Instructions

The deployment guide provides specific instructions for different platforms:

  • Standard HTML: Add the code before the closing </body> tag
  • Elementor: Add the code using Elementor's Custom Code feature
  • Divi: Add the code in Divi's Theme Options under Integration
  • Wix: Add the code using Wix's Custom Code feature
  • Squarespace: Add the code in Squarespace's Code Injection settings
  • Shopify: Add the code to your theme.liquid file
Testing Your Widget

Before deploying to your live website, you can test your AI assistant:

  1. Click on "Test Widget" in the Setup & Configuration section
  2. Select your business from the list
  3. Interact with your AI assistant to ensure it's working correctly
Important: After adding the code to your website, always test the widget on your live site to ensure it's working properly.
